The benchmark for all following breakfasts is this fine effort from one of our reviewers, Noah.
While Noah is an atrocious host, so has never invited us over to sample his fabled breakfast, here is our review:
Value for money: 💷💷💷💷💷 "Great value for money, as I assume it would be free!" Hipster-ness: 🍣🍣🍣◽◽ "Good use of the humble avo, but no outlandish ingredients. And served on a humdrum plate!" Presentation: 👀👀👀◽◽ "Looks OK, but a poor job of the poached eggs; sub-par, Noah!" Taste: 😋😋😋😋◽ "Even Noah couldn't screw this one up!" Noah's love for avocado is bordering on psychotic, so no surprise it makes an appearance on his made-at-home brunch. Even though Noah has never allowed us to sample his culinary brunch expertise, we are going to review his image anyway. Obviously scoring maximum points on value for money (five points for free, one point for anything so expensive we leave) as it's home cooked, it was all to play for with the remaining scores on the doors. Avocado and poached eggs on toast is certainly quite hipster, and excellent use of cracked black pepper to give a little fire to the dish. We are more than a little disappointed on the fairly standard plate choice; we were thinking Noah would at least serve brunch on an upturned dustbin lid or something. The brunch itself sat on the plate nicely, and looked appealing. The avocado looked well-smashed, and spread on the toast evenly. However, the poached eggs looked to be a little tatty - a real shame, as this was close to a four star dish! Taste-wise, the jury is out (mainly because Noah abjectly refuses to cook for us, something about "not being our butler") - however the simplicity of the dish lead us to believe that not even Noah with his limited culinary knowledge ("What is a 'ladle'?" has been asked on at least one occasion) could screw this one up!
