Hells Gate and Kamloops

After a quick trip to Tim Hortons (now a favoured option when in a rush) we head to pick up our ride for the week, a Dodge Ram 1500 pick up. A great team at Enterprise supported us in ppsorting things quickly, even pausing so we could Eclipse watch!

Once we were done off we went to Kamloops (Erin and Claire shuddering as I adjusted to driving on the other side of the road, with an automatic, and a large vehicle). We headed out and marvelled at the picturesque views. Early on we had a few stops; to pick up a tarpaulin and bungee cords to secure the luggage, to grab water and breakfast bards (just in case), and to grab some cash. About 90 minutes into our drive we stopped for a bite to eat and to fuel the car, and saw the helicopters airlifting in water for the forest fires. Interesting to watch, even though it was less that half a mile away!

We turned off to visit the Hells Gate Airtram and Salmon Museum, which was a great way to kill an hour or so. Really enjoyed learning about the areas history, and the impact and subsequent conservation effort for the Salmom.

Once done it was back in the car to Merritt, where we stopped for a quick bite at A&W’s, when off to Kamloops to lay our weary heads!

NB: Pictures to follow as all devices are recharging today before we can sync them up.
