We spent a few hours marvelling at the scale of the city, and the different elements from it’s history. In particular, Gas Town caught my eye. An old district of the city, built around a bar named after “Gassy Jack”, which was renovated after the Great Fire. This renovation brought gas and steam power to the district, that had been incororated into Vancouver City by this point. We vowed to check it out after dark.

After this we spent a while at the waterfront watching the cruise ships and seaplanes pass by. Up close those crew ships are massive! But, to me, the seaplanes are infinitely more interesting. The single prop engine powering a craft smaller than the limo that took us to the hotel into new locations… just, wow.

http://megson.me/canada/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/img_0557.mp4

We took a stroll to Stanley Park and marvelled at the totem poles, the harbour, the statues, and the magnificent nature; the huge trees were breathtaking.

<progress id="progress_92495E84-A0C2-4559-924D-B1104ACE8DB6" class="wp_media_indicator" value="0.152434"></progress>A leisurely stroll back along the waterfront (about an hour) allowed us sufficient excercise to be ready for a mini-feast, in the form of a burger from SteamWorks!
